My van has everything I need to replace a 2015 Honda FIT key without a shop. I carry high-security laser blanks, older edge-cut blanks, aftermarket and OEM-spec remote housings, CR2032 or CR1616 batteries, transponder chips for every Honda generation, and a key cutting machine bolted to the floor. The van is the shop. It just has wheels.
An ER doctor at the hospital parking structure in Rancho Bernardo called me because he couldn't leave for a dealer appointment. His fob, FCC ID KR5V1X, was a 3-button smart key that I built and tested right there in the garage.
His car never moved. Total was around $238 compared to $429 at the dealer, and that dealer price assumed the car could even get there. I walked in with a bag, walked out 40 minutes later, and he drove home to sleep.
