A photographer working a shoot near the border in San Ysidro's Border Area found out the hard way what all-keys-lost on a push-to-start Honda actually means. No fob, no backup slot to shove a key into, no way to even trick the car into waking up. The 2019 FIT's push-to-start setup means the vehicle needs to wirelessly detect a paired fob before anything happens. No paired fob in memory, and the car just sits there. To fix it right, you do a full immobilizer reset through the OBD port, which clears all previous fob data, and then register the new fob to the vehicle. I backed up the immobilizer data before touching anything, ran the all-keys-lost sequence, and enrolled the new fob. The car started right there in the lot.
He'd been told this was impossible without a dealer tow and a service appointment. It wasn't. It was about 45 minutes of work, done on site, for a fraction of what a tow plus dealer visit would have run. The dealer quote he got after the fact, out of curiosity, was more than double what he paid me.
