2005 Lexus GX Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Guy got back from a business trip, walked out to the premium lot at the airport, pressed his fob, and got nothing. Tried again. Nothing. He held it closer to the door handle. Still nothing. The CR1616 had died while the car sat there for a week.
He called the Lexus dealer. Earliest available slot was Thursday. It was Tuesday afternoon. A tow from the lot would have been its own project. He found EZ Car Keyz online instead.
I was at the lot in South Oceanside within 35 minutes of the call. Got the door open mechanically, connected my programmer, and pulled up the key registration data. His fobs were still enrolled in the immobilizer -- nothing had wiped. The issue was a communication fault that had set after the fob battery died completely. The battery had dropped low enough that the immobilizer logged a fault the fob alone couldn't clear on a fresh cell.
CR1616 swap, fault cleared, tested every function including remote lock, remote unlock, and panic. Twenty minutes on site, total.
He drove home that afternoon. The dealer route would have meant two days in a queue, a tow, and a rental. He mentioned that on his way out. I didn't bring it up.
