1999 Lexus LX Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call on a Tuesday from a guy in the Grossmont Area of La Mesa. His 1999 Lexus LX was starting fine, but the remote functions on his fob had stopped responding completely. Lock, unlock, nothing. He'd already swapped the battery, confirmed it was a CR1616, and seated it correctly. Still dead.
He'd called the dealer first. They told him they could get him in later that week, and that he'd need to bring the vehicle in. He wasn't thrilled about a multi-day turnaround for a fob issue on a car that otherwise drove perfectly.
I met him at his place in the Grossmont Area that afternoon. Ran through the diagnostics on site. The fob itself was intact and the blade was in good shape. What had happened was the remote's registration to the vehicle had dropped, most likely after a battery disconnect a few weeks back that he mentioned almost as an aside. The car never cared, kept starting, but the remote side had wiped.
I reprogrammed the fob to the vehicle on-site, walked every button, confirmed lock, unlock, and the third function all responded cleanly. The whole job ran about 25 minutes in his driveway.
He saved a good chunk compared to the dealer path, and didn't have to leave his car anywhere.
