2011 Lexus LX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2011 Lexus LX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked near the urgent care clinic off San Ysidro Boulevard, over in San Ysidro Village, when a woman walked out and flagged me down. She had already called ahead, but she still asked to see the license number on my van before she said a word about her car.

Her previous experience was the reason. The locksmith she had used before showed up in an unmarked sedan, wrote her a receipt with no company name, no license number, and a phone number that was disconnected by the following week. She had no way to verify anything after the fact. So before she called me, she looked up my BSIS license on the state website. She told me that directly.

The job was a spare key for her 2011 Lexus LX. She had one working fob, wanted a second, and was not going to the dealer if she could avoid it. The dealer had already quoted her more than she wanted to spend, and they told her they would need to order the fob and schedule a separate appointment.

I cut the emergency blade to match her vehicle, connected to the diagnostic port, and registered the new fob through the immobilizer. The system ran its security sequence, which has a built-in timed window you cannot skip. Then I walked every function: touch unlock on both handles, the lock button, the engine start, the cargo functions. All of it in the parking lot, no bay, no appointment, no tow.

She got a real receipt. License number on it, phone number that still works, company name that matches the van. She saved a good chunk compared to the dealer quote. And she did not have to leave her car anywhere.
