2000 Lexus LX Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A call came in from the Viejas Area of Alpine, a woman in the parking lot outside the dog groomer. Her LX had started acting up over the past week. Lock and unlock buttons on the remote head key had gone unreliable, then quit completely. The key still turned and the engine still started, so she figured it was not urgent. Then it stopped starting too.
She had the VIN ready when I pulled up, which immediately cut the job time down. With a 2000 LX, the VIN tells me what I need to know before I even open my bag. I confirmed the key type, pulled the correct blank from my van, and checked the existing key before writing it off entirely.
The transponder was reading fine. The remote circuit was not. Fresh CR1616, proper seating, and the remote functions came back. But she also wanted a tested spare cut and programmed before she lost the working key entirely, which was the smart call. I enrolled the new key into the vehicle's system, walked every function on both keys, and we were done in the parking lot while her dog was still getting a bath.
She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a number that made her hesitate long enough to call me instead. Saved a good chunk going the mobile route, and she never had to arrange a tow.
