2004 Lincoln Navigator Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call on a Wednesday afternoon from someone working near Beyer Blvd Corridor in San Ysidro. She had a 2004 Lincoln Navigator, two kids she was responsible for getting home, and a fob that had gone through the washing machine. The remote was dead. She was already running late and the dealer told her the earliest they could get her in was Friday, parts possibly separate.
I was parked in the area and told her I could be there in under twenty minutes.
When I pulled up, she had the kids settled and was standing by the driver door looking at her phone. The fob was dried out but visibly corroded at the battery contact. No amount of fresh CR2032 was going to save that one. The housing had taken water past the board.
I pulled out a replacement, connected to the OBD port, and ran the key programming sequence. The immobilizer on these has a security timer built into the process, so you sit through it. There is no shortcut. But it is not complicated, and it is not a multi-day job. By the time I had tested every button and confirmed the car started clean, we were well inside an hour from when she called.
She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted, and she did not lose two days of her schedule doing it. That part almost felt like the bigger win.
