She was in the parking lot of a dance studio in San Ysidro Village. Her daughter's recital started in two hours. Her 2010 Lincoln Navigator wouldn't respond to the fob at all, the costumes were in the back seat, and the dealer told her the earliest they could see her was the next day.

I was there in about 20 minutes. First thing I did was pop the remote head key housing. The CR2032 inside looked original, no markings worn off, the kind that's been in there since the lot. Dead. But the contact tab on the positive side had also bent slightly inward, probably from years of getting squeezed in a bag or pocket, so even a fresh battery wouldn't have seated right without fixing that first.
I straightened the tab, put in a new CR2032, and then connected my programmer to the OBD port to re-enroll the key with the immobilizer. The remote functions came back, the engine started and stayed running, and I walked every button on the fob to confirm before I packed up.
From her call to her pulling out of that lot was under 50 minutes. She made the recital. The dealer comparison didn't even come up until she was already in drive.
