2021 Lincoln Navigator
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2021 Lincoln Navigator Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out near the Viejas Area in Alpine, a woman flagged me down in a church parking lot on a Saturday afternoon. She had already been through it once.

A different locksmith had come out, charged her a full fee for a replacement smart key on her 2021 Navigator, and left her with a car that started for two seconds and then died. Every single time. The other guy told her the immobilizer module was failing and that was a dealer problem.

She had been sitting on that for four days before she called me.

I did not assume the module. I ran a read through the diagnostic port first, just to see what the system actually said. The key data was in there, but it was written as a temporary entry, not a committed one. The previous tech had either timed out during the security access phase or disconnected before the confirmation completed. The car had learned the key just enough to tease her.

I cleared the incomplete entry, started the registration sequence clean, and let the security access timer run all the way through without touching anything. When the write confirmed on my screen, I had her try it. Started right up. Theft indicator light cycled off the way it should. Stayed running.

She asked me how long that was supposed to take. I told her the timer alone is not fast, but you do not rush it.

The dealer quote she had gotten after the first locksmith bailed would have taken three days minimum and cost her a tow on top of everything. She had already paid once for work that was not finished. This time it was done.
