2023 Lincoln Navigator
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: Do I need to tow my Navigator to the dealer if I have no working keys?

No. The dealer will often tell you towing is the only path, and for them it might be. We come to you. Mobile all-keys-lost service on the 2023 Navigator is a real option. Bring the registration and your ID, and we handle security access, key generation, and programming right in your driveway or parking lot in Millenia. No tow, no service bay, no days-long wait for parts.

Q: How long does an all-keys-lost replacement take on the 2023 Navigator?

On this generation of Navigator with Intelligent Access, the timing is different from older key-in-ignition platforms that used timed security cycles. Professional diagnostic tools handle the security access step, and actual key enrollment completes in a few minutes once access is granted. The rest of the time is setup, cutting any emergency blade if needed, and full function testing of every fob button and every door handle antenna zone. Total on-site time for all-keys-lost typically runs 60 to 90 minutes.

Q: My Navigator shows a key-not-detected warning but the fob battery is new. What else causes that?

A few things. First, confirm the replacement battery is actually a CR2450, not a CR2032 or another size that fits loosely. Wrong cell is more common than it sounds and will cause exactly this symptom. Second, check that the battery contact inside the fob is sitting flat and making clean contact. If the fob was pried open instead of properly released, the contact tab can bend slightly and cause an intermittent read even with a good battery.

Q: Can I buy a fob online and have you program it, or does it have to come from the dealer?

You can buy an aftermarket or third-party fob and have it programmed. It does not have to come from the dealer. What matters is that the fob matches the factory FCC ID on your original and carries the correct radio configuration for this vehicle. Mismatched fobs will fail enrollment no matter how good the equipment is. The dealer part number and the factory FCC ID are printed on the back of your original fob.

2023 Lincoln Navigator Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in the Millenia neighborhood of Chula Vista. He had found me through YouTube before he ever needed a locksmith. Watched one of my Lincoln key jobs, saw the whole process play out on screen, and saved my number. When his 2023 Navigator started giving him a key-not-detected warning, he did not search around. He just called.

When I pulled up, he met me in the parking area and explained the situation. The fob had been acting up for a few weeks. Range was getting shorter, then one morning the vehicle would not detect it at all. He had already tried standing closer to the door. He had not tried the battery.

I popped the fob open on the hood where he could watch. The CR2450 inside was the original cell, still reading voltage but low enough to cause detection problems at normal range. Swapped the battery, reseated it clean, and ran through every function. Lock, unlock, liftgate, and remote start detection confirmed. Then I walked the door handles and tested the push-button start from the driver seat, passenger seat, and back seat, because the antennas cover the whole cabin and I want to know the whole picture before I close the call.

Fob was fine. The original key did not need programming or replacement. Fifteen minutes, a correct battery, and he was done.

He mentioned what the dealer had quoted him just to diagnose the issue. My name was already in his phone. That part was an afterthought.

Lincoln Navigator Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

I lost all my Lincoln keys. Can you still make a new one?▼

Yes. All-keys-lost on the 2023 Navigator is a job we handle on site. Because this vehicle uses a full Intelligent Access smart key system, there is no ignition cylinder to turn and no onboard add-a-key sequence. Getting new fobs programmed when nothing exists in the system requires professional diagnostic equipment to access the vehicle's security module through the OBD port, clear the lost key records, and enroll the new fobs from scratch.
