2009 Lincoln Navigator Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was already running a call out in Alpine on a Saturday evening when the next one came in from a couple near Harbison Canyon. They had been out for dinner, came back to their 2009 Lincoln Navigator, and the remote head key was completely unresponsive. No lock, no unlock, nothing. They tried cycling through it a few times in the parking lot before one of them called me.
When I pulled up, I could see the panic on their faces. They had no idea the key blade was right there in the fob the whole time, and they didn't know the vehicle had a backup approach for getting inside without the remote working. Once I walked them through it and got the door open, we confirmed the battery in the remote head key had just given out. CR2032, totally flat.
Fresh battery went in first. The remote functions came back, but the car still wasn't reading the key correctly for start. That told me the fob needed to be re-paired to the vehicle's receiver, which happens more often than people expect after a deep battery drain on these. I ran the programming sequence from my kit, confirmed the transponder registration was solid, and tested start three times before I called it done.
They drove home that same night. The dealer alternative would have meant leaving the Navigator in a parking lot until Monday, paying a tow, and then waiting on a service appointment. None of that happened. When the parts are already in the van and the drive is fifteen minutes, a Saturday night call is just another job.
