2001 Subaru Impreza Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was out in San Diego Country Estates on a Tuesday, the kind of afternoon where the hills are quiet and everybody seems to know everybody.
A woman who worked at a local shelter had called me for a spare key to her 2001 Subaru Impreza. Before she dialed, she had looked up my license number on the BSIS website. She mentioned that casually, almost like an apology, but it was not an apology at all. A previous locksmith had left her with no receipt, no company name, and a phone number that went dead. She was not doing that again.
I had the replacement fob and the key blank ready when I pulled up. The 2001 Impreza runs a separate remote and a transponder ignition key, so there were two things to handle: cut the replacement blade to her existing lock profile, then program the remote. I walked her through what I was doing on each step, partly because she asked and partly because I think people should know what they are paying for.
The programming took a few minutes once the cutting was done. Tested every button, tested the start, walked the doors. Everything confirmed.
She had called the dealer earlier that week, mostly out of habit. They quoted her a number that made her pause. She paid a fraction of that and did not have to drive anywhere.
