I drove out to the ski lot. Push-to-start AKL is more involved than a standard transponder job because the IMMO module needs direct access and old key data cleared before new fobs register. I used my ACDP to pull the immobilizer data as a safety backup, then ran AKL through OBD. His smart key, FCC ID , was a 3-button proximity fob.
His car started at a ski resort overflow lot with no cell service and no dealer within an hour. Total was around $103. Dealer would have been $261 plus a long-distance tow. Smart key AKL isn't dealer-only. It's tool-dependent.
