Downtown Oceanside, midday, parking lot just off the main strip near the transit center. A guy who runs a record shop nearby called me because he wanted a spare key for his 2004 Impreza. Not an emergency, just a smart move. He had one working key and wanted a backup before anything went sideways.

Same 4-button layout, same CR2025 battery, same snap-fit housing. What it does not have is the Subaru logo on the back. That is the whole difference.
Cut the blade to match his existing key, programmed the transponder to the immobilizer, then registered the remote. Walked him through the range test on both lock and unlock so he could see it working before I packed up. He tested it three times himself.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a wait and a parts order. We were done in his own parking lot in under 30 minutes. He went back inside to open the shop.
