Then I connected through OBD and ran the all-keys-lost sequence, which clears previous keys and learns the new one as primary. His Transponder Key, FCC ID , was cut, programmed, and tested right there.
His car started in the same beach lot. Total was around $137. Dealer wanted $318 plus a tow. Lock decode to engine running took about 45 minutes.
