A guy called me from a brewery taproom parking lot in Kearny Mesa at about 3:30 in the afternoon. His shift behind the bar started at 4. His 2020 Legacy wasn't responding to the fob at all -- push-button start was showing a key-not-detected warning on the dash and the door handles weren't waking up the way they should.

The battery was the original from the factory -- a CR2032, but it was reading low and the contact tab had a slight bow to it. Swapped the battery, straightened the contact, and retested. The dash warning cleared and the handles came back to life on both sides. No programming needed.
He had one of those mornings where three things went wrong before noon and the key was just the last one. When it started up clean and the fob was working across the lot, he kind of exhaled and went quiet for a second.
