2007 Toyota Avalon
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2007 Toyota Avalon Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy parked off a side road near Dictionary Hill in Spring Valley. He'd been hiking and came back to his 2007 Avalon Limited with no fob. Not a dead battery situation. Gone. Somewhere between the trail and the car, it left his pocket.

He'd already tried the dealer. They told him to tow it in, get an appointment, and plan for a couple of days. He was standing next to his car in the afternoon heat when he found my number.

I drove to his GPS pin with everything already loaded in the van. The Avalon was sitting right where he said, locked up tight. I used the emergency insert blade to get in through the door, then got to work at the diagnostic port. On an all-keys-lost job like this, there's a reset cycle built into the process. You can't rush it. The system has a timed window and it either completes or it doesn't. I've watched people get impatient and pull the cable early. That's how you turn one problem into two.

He stood in the shade and we talked while the cycle ran. When it finished, I registered the new fob, verified the touch unlock on both handles, ran all four buttons, and had him press the start button himself. Engine came up clean.

He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted, and he didn't lose two days of his week. I packed up and was back on the road in under an hour.
