A guy in Casa de Oro called me on a Sunday afternoon. He lived in a gated community, and his Avalon was sitting in guest parking inside the complex with a fob that would not wake the car up. Completely dead. The guest lot was past a keypad gate that a tow truck driver could not get through without a resident escort, and he was not about to stand at the gate waiting for a stranger to wave in a flatbed.

Once the cycle finished I registered the new fob, verified the push-button start, walked every button, and tested the door handle touch sensors on both front doors. The whole job was done in the guest lot, engine running, before he even had to think about a tow.

He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted him, and that quote had assumed he could get the car there first, which was the part that was never going to work on a Sunday anyway.
