1996 Toyota Land Cruiser
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

1996 Toyota Land Cruiser Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

My van carries a cutting machine bolted to the floor, a full set of key blanks for domestic and import vehicles, and the decoding tools to read a lock without any working key at all. The van is the shop. It just drives to you.

A homeowner in Del Mar Village called me because his 1996 Land Cruiser was sitting in guest parking inside a gated complex and he had no working key. The tow company needed a resident escort to get through the gate, and he had no way to escort them because he was already outside the gate on foot. Classic catch-22.

I drove in behind another resident, walked to his car with my bag, and decoded the cut straight from his door lock cylinder. The lock told me everything I needed. I cut the replacement blade on the spot, tested it in the door, tested it in the ignition, and the truck started on the first turn.

His car never moved. No tow truck, no flatbed fees, no waiting until Monday for a dealer appointment. The dealer comparison came up in conversation afterward and he laughed when I told him I was already done. Same result, fraction of what they wanted, done in his own parking lot.
