2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a woman parked at the youth soccer fields in Buena Creek, Vista. Her Land Cruiser had been sitting in the lot for about two hours while her kid played, and when she walked back to it, the door handle did nothing. She pulled out the fob, pressed unlock manually, same thing. Tried the driver's side. Nothing. The car just sat there.

She hadn't lost the key. She hadn't dropped it. It was the same fob she'd used that morning.

I pulled up and the first thing I did was check the fob battery. CR1632, looked original. I swapped in a fresh cell right there on the hood, seated it properly, and the handles came back to life on the first try. That was it. Two hours of frustration, a tow she almost called, and it was the battery.

But I didn't hand it back and leave. I walked the perimeter of the vehicle pressing every button - lock, unlock, the rear liftgate, the panic. Then I stood about thirty feet away and ran it again. Then I sat in the driver's seat and confirmed the push-button start recognized the fob from the normal seating position, not just when it's held up against the button. Three consecutive starts. Checked that the door handles were responding on approach, not just on button press.

She watched the whole thing from the sideline fence and said she thought I was going to do one test and leave. That full walkthrough is part of the job. It's the only way to know you're not getting a callback at 9pm from a parking lot.
