Once I had the mechanical side, I connected through OBD and ran the immobilizer reset to clear old keys and register the new one. His smart fob, FCC ID , was a 3-button proximity key that I cut, chipped, and programmed on the spot.
His car started in the same beach lot. Total was $95. The dealer wanted $200 plus a tow and a multi-day wait. The whole process from lock decode to engine running took about 50 minutes. All-keys-lost sounds like a crisis, but on most Toyotas it is a routine field job with the right tools.
