I got a text from someone staying at a property in The Crosby, Rancho Santa Fe. He had gone out on foot, come back, and his only fob for a 2015 Prius was gone. He asked me if I could do anything about the lost fob. I told him the old one had already been erased from the system. It would not start the car or unlock anything even if it turned up later. That was the right answer and he knew it.
He did not have to arrange a tow out of a residential neighborhood to a dealer and wait through their intake process. The Prius left the driveway under its own power. That was the whole job.
