Once I had the mechanical side, I connected through OBD and ran the immobilizer reset to clear old keys and register the new one. His smart fob, FCC ID HYQ14FBE-0410, was a 4-button proximity key that I cut, chipped, and programmed on the spot.
His car started in the same beach lot. Total was $217. The dealer wanted $392 plus a tow and a multi-day wait. The whole process from lock decode to engine running took about 50 minutes. All-keys-lost sounds like a crisis, but on most Toyotas it is a routine field job with the right tools.
