The TOY43 ignition on Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner wears down over the years. Wafers get loose, the key catches, and eventually the customer is forcing it every morning. I checked the cylinder and the issue was worn wafers, not a dead lock. I used my ACDP to back up the immobilizer data from the ID box as a safety measure before touching anything. The ACDP reads the security module data directly from the chip so I have a backup if anything goes sideways during mechanical work. Then I decoded the lock, replaced the worn wafers, and cut a fresh key matched to the repaired cylinder. Her remote, FCC ID , synced back up through OBD.

Total was $137. The dealer's $318 quote included parts she did not need. The ignition turns smooth now and the key slides in clean. I replaced what was actually worn, not the whole assembly.
