I got a call at 5:28 in the morning from a guy parked at a supply store off the San Luis Rey corridor in Oceanside. The fob registered. I still connected through the OBD port to confirm the immobilizer was reading the key cleanly and there were no stored faults sitting in the system from the repeated failed start attempts. Everything came back clean.
He was pulling out of that lot by 5:58. Didn't need a tow. Didn't need a dealer appointment. Just someone who showed up before sunrise and knew the difference between a CR2032 and a CR2450.
