I got a call at 5:28 in the morning from a guy parked at a supply store off the San Luis Rey corridor in Oceanside.

His crew was loading up and he was standing next to his 2024 Tundra with a fob that had gone dark overnight. Push-to-start was getting nothing. No response from the door handles. He told me his shift started at 6 and the crew wasn't going to wait.

He was pulling out of that lot by 5:58. Didn't need a tow. Didn't need a dealer appointment. Just someone who showed up before sunrise and knew the difference between a CR2032 and a CR2450.
