2019 Acura RLX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2019 Acura RLX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

In Ventura, over in the College neighborhood, I got a call from a guy who had just bought a used 2019 Acura RLX and came with only one smart key. He had called the dealer, heard the wait time and the price, and decided there had to be another way.

He met me in the parking lot near his place. The car was clean, clearly well kept, and he was the kind of owner who wanted to understand what I was doing, not just watch me do it. I walked him through it while I worked.

First thing I checked was the existing fob. Battery was original and reading low, so I swapped a fresh CR2032 before anything else. Then I verified the VIN, confirmed ownership, and got into the diagnostic port to see how the keyless access system was currently set up and which memory slots were in use.

I cut the emergency insert blade to match his door and ignition, checked it in the lock physically, then registered the new fob through the diagnostic port. After registration, I walked every function: door handle touch unlock on both sides, the lock button on the handle, and all five buttons on the fob. I also confirmed the walk-away auto lock behavior before I called it done, because that setting can get toggled during a registration procedure and owners notice immediately when it stops working.

He had a working spare in hand before his lunch got cold. The dealer quote stayed theoretical.
