Got a call from a Euro shop near Rocky Peak Trail in Simi Valley. They had a 2017 BMW 2 Series on the lift that another locksmith had already touched. The tech tried an FEM unlock procedure, lost power or connection mid-write, and left the module in a fault state. Car was completely dead. No crank, no dash, no comfort access. The shop told the owner it might need a tow to BMW of Thousand Oaks.
I brought my Yanhua ACDP with the BMW FEM/BDC adapter. Pulled the module, read the 95128 EEPROM on the bench, and found the ISN area partially overwritten. The backup data was still intact in a second sector, so I restored the original write, patched the corrupted block, and flashed it back. Generated a fresh key from the recovered ISN and synced the YGOHUF5767 fob to the module through OBD.
The car woke up on the first attempt. Tested comfort access on both front doors, trunk button, start-stop, and steering lock release. Everything came back clean.
Took about two hours, which is longer than a normal key job. But the alternative was a flatbed ride, a potential FEM replacement at the dealer, and the owner waiting a week or more. I showed the shop guys what the corrupted EEPROM dump looked like versus the clean one so they would know the signs if another locksmith ever handed them a similar mess.
