Saturday night, around 10pm, a couple in Ventura's Midtown neighborhood called me from a parking garage near one of the rooftop spots. Their 2014 4 Series wouldn't respond to the fob. No lock, no unlock, no trunk. They figured they'd leave the BMW there and deal with it Monday. Then one of them searched "BMW locksmith" and found me.
I was 15 minutes out with everything already in the van. F-series smart key shells, CR2032 cells, HU92 blades, all in labeled drawers behind my seat. I don't order parts when you call.
Their fob was the NBGIDGNG1, the diamond-style 4-button smart key that came standard on F32 builds with Comfort Access. Popped it open on the hood and the CR2032 was completely flat. Swapped the battery, then ran it through my VVDI Key Tool to resync the rolling code to the FEM. First press, doors unlocked. Second press, trunk popped. Start button fired the engine right up.
Then I walked every function: lock, unlock, hold-to-open windows, panic, Comfort Access range on the driver handle. All clean. They both just stood there for a second like they were waiting for it to fail again.
They drove home that night instead of leaving a BMW sitting in a garage all weekend. When everything is stocked, a 10pm Saturday call gets the same result as a 10am Tuesday appointment.
