2015 BMW X4 Emergency Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Guy flagged me down by Topa Topa Brewing Company in Oxnard. Not a scheduled call. He was standing next to a 2015 BMW X4 xDrive28i, holding the fob shell in one hand and the emergency blade in the other like he was about to perform surgery.
His comfort access had quit. Doors would not respond to the handle pull, start button showed "No Key Detected" on the iDrive, and he had already been sitting there for twenty minutes trying the fob from different angles. He found the emergency blade online but could not figure out where it went on the door.
I popped the cap off the underside of the driver handle, slid the HU92 blade in, and got the door open. Then I checked the fob. His battery was completely dead. The CR2032 inside looked original, five years old and reading under a volt. Swapped it, reseated the board, closed the housing, and tested comfort access on all four doors plus the liftgate button.
He kept opening and closing the driver door like he was making sure it would keep working. I get it. When the car ignores you for twenty minutes, trust takes a second to rebuild.
Whole thing took about ten minutes. He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a diagnostic appointment two weeks out just to look at it. He did not need a diagnostic. He needed a battery and someone who knew where the keyhole hid.
