A college student at a storage unit place near Seaside Park in Ventura called me on a Monday. He had a U-Haul reserved for Wednesday and his only CR-Z key had vanished somewhere in a stack of moving boxes he had already taped shut.

I connected my Smart Pro to the OBD-II port and ran the Honda immobilizer handshake. The HITAG 3 ID47 chip registered on the first pass. Cut the emergency insert blade on site, programmed all four buttons on the fob, and walked the whole sequence: remote lock, remote unlock, trunk release, push-button start. Everything confirmed before I pulled the diagnostic cable.
He was sitting on a milk crate eating a gas station sandwich the entire time. When I handed him the key, he just held it for a second like he expected a catch.
Monday call, Monday fix. He made his Wednesday move with time to spare.
