A wellness coach out of a pilates studio near Hueneme Beach called me at just past five in the morning before her dawn class. One key, no spare, bought the car used that way. The blade on her 2005 S-Type flip key had cracked at the pivot joint, which is a known weak point on this generation of fob. I rebuilt the working internals into a fresh shell, cut a new blade to match the vehicle, programmed it, and tested every button and the ignition before she walked away.
She made her 5:30 class. The dealer had been mentioned in passing, something about them quoting a figure that made her put it off for months. She said doing it in a parking lot at sunrise for a fraction of what they wanted made more sense than she expected.
