2005 Jaguar S-Type Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A wellness coach out of a pilates studio near Hueneme Beach called me at just past five in the morning before her dawn class. One key, no spare, bought the car used that way.
The blade on her 2005 S-Type flip key had cracked at the pivot joint, which is a known weak point on this generation of fob. She tried to muscle it into the door lock and the blade snapped off inside the cylinder. Key head in one hand, broken blade stuck in the lock.
I extracted the broken blade from the cylinder, then looked at what I had to work with. The fob housing was cracked but the circuit board inside was intact and readable. That mattered. When I was able to read the existing chip data off the old board, we avoided a full all-keys-lost reset, which takes longer and costs more. I rebuilt the working internals into a fresh shell, cut a new blade to match the vehicle, programmed it, and tested every button and the ignition before she walked away.
She made her 5:30 class. The dealer had been mentioned in passing, something about them quoting a figure that made her put it off for months. She said doing it in a parking lot at sunrise for a fraction of what they wanted made more sense than she expected.
If your S-Type key cracked and you still have both pieces, save them and call me. The electronics inside a broken housing are often still good, and that changes the whole job.
