Got a call from a guy over near the Port Hueneme Historical Society Museum area. He had just picked up a 2007 S-Type from a private seller. Nice car, one key. The seller told him a spare would be easy to get.

I pulled chip data from his working key with my VVDI2, programmed a new transponder matched to his vehicle's immobilizer module, and cut the blade on site.
While I worked, I walked him through the difference between add-a-key and all-keys-lost. With one working key present, the job is quicker and cheaper. Lose that single key and the process gets longer, the cost jumps, and it involves deeper module access. He got the point fast.
Next morning he drove to work with two keys in his pocket. The whole job took about 40 minutes, and he paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted for one spare.
