She was having dinner on The Avenue in Ventura when someone lifted her purse right off her chair. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it. She borrowed the hostess phone, called the police, then her husband, then me. She's an ER doctor. Not being able to get home wasn't an option.
Her 2020 Jeep Gladiator was sitting in the valet lot next door with zero keys in existence. Her husband had already called the dealer. She drove home that night. The stolen key won't start her Gladiator, won't unlock the doors remotely, won't do anything. The dealer route would have left the truck sitting on a lot for days while the old fob was still technically live. That part bothered me more than the wait time.
