2022 Jeep Gladiator Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Last week on Victoria Avenue corridor, a Gladiator owner discovered his smart key wouldn't unlock the doors after washing his Jeep. The OHT1130261 fob clicked but nothing happened.
He'd been pressure washing the undercarriage at the self-serve bay. When he went to leave, the smart key was dead. The emergency blade got him in, but the push-start wouldn't recognize the fob at all. He tried the trick where you hold it against the start button. Nothing.
I opened the fob right there in the parking lot. Water had seeped past the panic button seal and pooled on the circuit board. The CR2450 contacts showed green corrosion. These 68416784AC fobs aren't sealed as tight as the older WK2 Grand Cherokee keys.
I cleaned the board with isopropyl, dried it completely, and installed a fresh CR2450 with dielectric grease on the contacts. The Gladiator recognized it immediately. While I had my Autel IM608 hooked up, I programmed him a second fob so he'd have a backup.
The dealer wanted him to buy a whole new smart key at their price. All it needed was a proper cleaning and moisture protection, done on-site in about 25 minutes.
