A property manager in La Colonia neighborhood had the worst Monday possible. His 2023 Grand Cherokee L wouldn't detect the key, even standing right next to the driver door.
The dash kept flashing "Key Fob Not Detected" every time he tried to start it. Fresh CR2450 battery didn't help. He tried the backup start procedure, holding the fob against the start button. Nothing. The emergency key blade got him in, but that was it.
When I got there, I plugged into the OBD port and pulled codes. P1631 pointed straight to the RF Hub Module losing communication with the Wireless Control Module. This is the exact issue covered in TSB 08-093-22. The RF Hub (part 68462925AC) handles all the passive entry signals, and when it drops sync, your fob becomes a paperweight.
I did the module relearn through my Autel IM608 Pro, which has the Stellantis SGW access needed for 2023s. Took about 12 minutes for the WCM to recognize the fob again. Tested all five buttons, passive entry on all doors, remote start, everything.
He asked what the dealer would have done. Same fix, but they'd need the Jeep for two days minimum, plus whatever they charge for the diagnostic and module relearn. We knocked it out in his driveway before his first showing.
