Got a call from a guy over in the Via Marina neighborhood in Oxnard. His 2011 MINI Clubman was sitting in his driveway with zero working keys. He had one remote head key that stopped turning the ignition about a week earlier, and instead of dealing with it right away he just kept wiggling it until the blade snapped off inside the cylinder.
When I pulled up he was sitting on his front steps holding the fob end of the broken key in one hand and a pair of needle-nose pliers in the other. He had already tried to fish the blade out himself. Did not go well. Tiny scratch marks all around the ignition surround.
I extracted what was left of the old blade, then cut a fresh HU92 profile on the Condor right there on his driveway. Programmed the PCF7945 transponder through the OBD port to sync with his CAS3 module, then ran the on-board remote pairing procedure for the three buttons: lock, unlock, trunk. Tested the ignition cycle a few times, walked the doors, popped the rear barn doors with the remote.
He kept looking at the broken blade piece on the ground like it owed him something.
Whole thing took maybe 35 minutes from the time I stepped out of my van. He mentioned the dealer had quoted him multiple days just to get the car in, plus a tow since he could not drive it. He saved a good chunk going mobile instead.
