Got a call from a guy near the Oxnard Performing Arts Center. His 2014 MINI Countryman was sitting in a lot and he had zero keys. Lost one months ago, never replaced it, and then his last one fell out of his pocket somewhere between lunch and the parking lot. Classic all-keys-lost situation.
I pulled up and got to work on the hood. The R60 Countryman uses CAS3+ with the same round puck fob as the R56 Cooper, so I already had the right key blank, an HU92 blade, and a PCF7945 chip ready. Cut the blade to factory spec from the door lock read, then connected through the OBD-II port.
The all-keys-lost procedure on CAS3+ takes a few steps. You pull the ISN from the CAS module, sync the new transponder, and wipe the old key data so whatever is floating around out there becomes a paperweight. Then remote programming. Then the full walkthrough: start, stop, lock, unlock, trunk release, comfort access range at each door.
He was leaning against the car watching the whole time. When it started on the first push, he just nodded slowly, like he had been holding his breath for twenty minutes.
Whole thing took about 35 minutes on site. No flatbed, no waiting at a service counter, no coming back Thursday. He drove home.
