Guy in Ventura, out in the Montalvo neighborhood, flagged me down about his 2020 Eclipse Cross. Not a roadside emergency. He was at his cousin's barbecue and walked over when he saw the van.

It cares about the rolling code exchange between the fob and the ETACS module, and that handshake is identical.
I cut the emergency insert blade on site, paired the fob through the OBD port, then walked every function: lock, unlock, panic, proximity detection at each door handle, push-button start, and the tailgate release. He stood there watching the door handles respond and kept pulling the key farther away to test range. Same reach as his OEM fob.
He pocketed it and went back to his plate. No dealer appointment, no two-week wait, no riding out to the nearest Mitsubishi store. Just a working key made at a barbecue for a fraction of what they would have charged.
