A guy in the College area of Ventura called me about his 1998 Intrigue. He had bought it from a private seller a few weeks before and got exactly one key with it. Then that one key snapped off right at the bow, the part you hold, while he was pulling it out of the door lock. Half the blade was still stuck in the cylinder.
He had the broken-off bow piece in his hand when I got there. Fortunately the piece stuck in the door lock had enough sticking out to work with. I used a broken key extractor, got it out clean, and the cylinder itself was fine. No bent wafers, turned freely once the fragment was out.
From there I decoded the blade from the extracted piece, cross-referenced with the ignition cylinder to confirm the cut, and made him two new keys on site. He tested both in the door and the ignition before I packed up.
The dealer would have told him to tow it in and wait a day or two. He got it handled in his driveway in under an hour.
