Got a call from a guy over in Harding Park in Santa Paula. His 2002 Intrigue was sitting in the driveway, doors locked, no spare anywhere. He'd already called the dealer and they told him two things: get it towed in, and wait about a week for the key to come in from parts. He went quiet on the phone for a second after I told him I could be there that afternoon.
When I pulled up, he was sitting on the porch just watching the car like it owed him money.
I pulled the lock cylinder to decode the key cuts, got the blade cut on the mobile unit, then programmed the PK3 transponder through the OBD-II port. The Intrigue's Body Control Module, the 09379060 BCM on these third-gen W-bodies, handles both the transponder registration and the remote learn sequence. Once the transponder took, I ran the door lock remote learn procedure: ignition on, hold lock and unlock on the L2C0005T until the locks cycled. All four buttons checked out. Locks, unlock, trunk, panic.
He tested every door himself, twice. Then he popped the trunk like he was making sure I hadn't missed something. I get it. When you've been locked out of your own car all day, you want to push every button.
Whole thing took less than 40 minutes. No tow, no parts counter, no week-long wait.
