2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy in the College neighborhood of Ventura called me on a Tuesday afternoon. He had one key left for his 2004 Silhouette and it had snapped at the neck - the blade broke off right at the bow, still sitting in the ignition. He had already tried fishing it out himself with a bobby pin and made it worse.

I pulled up with the extraction tools and got the broken blade out without touching the cylinder itself. That part took longer than the key cutting. Once the cylinder was clear, I read what I needed from the ignition, cut a new transponder key to fit, and enrolled it through the OBD port. First start attempt, the van fired right up.

He mentioned he had called the dealer first. They told him to tow it in, and the wait for an appointment was several days out. He found me instead and the whole job was done in his driveway, same afternoon. The dealer comparison came up for about ten seconds and then we just moved on. He had somewhere to be.
