A pipefitter from out of state was staying at a hotel in Oxnard, near Historic Plaza Park, working a short contract. He had one key for his 2015 Ram 3500 Cummins, and it was sitting on the center console behind a locked door.
He called the dealer first. Two business days minimum, plus he'd need a tow since the truck couldn't drive itself in. He had to be on a job site at six the next morning. That timeline was dead on arrival.
He found me that night. I drove out with everything in the van. His FOBIK was the five-button GQ4-53T with remote start. I used my SIP22 Lishi to pick the door lock, got it open, grabbed his original key so it wouldn't get erased during programming. Then I cut a fresh Y170 emergency blade, built up a second FOBIK, connected through the OBD port, and pulled the security PIN off the RF hub module. Programming took about twenty minutes. Registered both fobs, tested the remote start, cycled the lock and unlock, checked that the transponder handshake cleared with no bus errors on the dash.
He stood there watching the whole time, mostly asking about the Cummins and whether the immobilizer ever gave diesel guys extra trouble. It doesn't.
He drove to work the next morning with two keys instead of one, for a fraction of what the dealer quoted him.
