2018 Ram 3500 Emergency Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a guy at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard. He was there with his 2018 Ram 3500, visiting someone, and when he came back out the emergency key blade had snapped right at the pivot inside the FOBIK housing. Clean break. The plastic release button still clicked, but nothing came out.
He was standing in the lot holding the fob in one hand and a tiny stub of broken CY24 blade in the other. He had already tried prying the rest out with a pocket knife and scratched up the housing pretty good.
I pulled the broken bit out of the shell with needle-nose pliers. Decoded his ignition cylinder with my CY24 Lishi tool right there in the parking lot, cut a fresh blade on the truck's tailgate, and fitted it into a new FOBIK housing. Transferred his existing circuit board over since the electronics and the ID46 chip were perfectly fine. Tested the WIN module start, all four buttons on the remote, and the manual door lock with the new blade.
Whole thing took maybe 25 minutes. He kept looking at the old cracked housing like he was mad at it.
No tow. No dealer appointment across town. No waiting on a parts order for a new complete FOBIK assembly, which is what the dealer would have pushed. Just a blade and a housing swap, done on site for a fraction of what they wanted.
