I got a call from a guy out in Leisure Village in Camarillo. Retired, drives his VUE maybe three times a week, and somehow the only key he had just disappeared. Not lost-in-the-house lost. Gone. He'd looked everywhere. The car was sitting in his driveway, totally locked up, and he had zero keys to his name.

I pulled up, got the car info confirmed, and started with the blank. The 2009 VUE takes a specific transponder key and the blade has to be cut right. Decoded his lock, cut the key on site, then connected to the OBD port and ran the all-keys-lost sequence. The immobilizer reset, the new key got registered, and I had him turn it over himself to confirm it fired up clean.
He stood there watching the whole thing from his driveway. Maybe 35 minutes start to finish.
He mentioned the dealer estimate at the end, almost like he was still surprised by the gap. I told him towing it in was never part of the plan.
