Got a call out near Las Posas Plaza in Camarillo. A 2009 Saturn VUE sitting in the lot, no keys at all. The owner had one key for years, kept meaning to get a spare, and then left it in a jacket pocket at a restaurant somewhere between here and Oxnard. Gone.
She had already called the dealer. They wanted the car towed in and said it would be three to five business days before they could get to it. She found me instead.
I pulled up next to the VUE, decoded the lock to get the key cut data, and cut a fresh 7011685 blade on the machine in my van. Then connected to the OBD-II port and ran the PK3+ all-keys-lost procedure through the BCM. That involves a timed security relearn where the system cycles through its theft deterrent reset. You sit and wait for it. About ten minutes of the BCM doing its thing, then the new transponder registers.
After that I tested the start, killed the engine, restarted, checked that the security light went through its normal bulb check and turned off. Walked around and checked the doors with the new key blade.
She was leaning against the next car watching the whole time. When it started clean on the second try she just quietly said "that's it?" and kind of laughed.
Whole thing, about 35 minutes. No tow truck, no days waiting.
