A guy was eating at a ramen spot near the Del Sol shopping area in Oxnard when someone grabbed his jacket off the back of his chair. Keys, wallet, phone, all gone in one swipe.
He borrowed the cashier's phone, called the police, and then his roommate called me. His 2015 Scion FR-S was sitting in the lot with zero keys. The roommate had already tried the Toyota dealer. They said tow it in, three to five business days, and they recommended a full immobilizer reprogram since the stolen HYQ12BBY could still start the car.
I got there within the hour. All-keys-lost after a theft is a specific procedure. I connected my Autel IM608 to the OBD-II port, pulled up the ZN6 platform module, wiped the immobilizer key memory clean, and registered two fresh HYQ12BBY remote head keys from scratch. Cut both TOY12 blades on site. The stolen key is electronically dead at that point. It might physically turn the ignition cylinder, but the 4D transponder handshake fails and the ECU kills fuel and spark. It is just a piece of plastic now.
Both keys were locking, unlocking, and starting the car before the police even called back with a case number. He drove home that night. The dealer route would have meant a tow, a rental, and close to a week without his car.
