2015 Scion FR-S Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
He was at a ramen spot in RiverPark when someone grabbed his jacket off the back of his chair. Keys, wallet, phone. Borrowed the cashier's phone, called the police, then his roommate tracked me down.
The 2015 Scion FR-S was sitting in the parking lot with no working key anywhere. The Toyota dealer told his roommate to tow it in, said it would be three to five business days, and quoted a number that made the roommate go quiet for a second before he repeated it back to make sure he heard right.
I was there inside the hour. Theft situations like this are a specific kind of job. It is not just making a new key. The stolen key has to be made useless, which means wiping the key memory entirely and registering fresh keys from scratch so the old one cannot start the car. I connected my diagnostic tool through the OBD port, cleared the existing key data, and enrolled two new remote head keys. Both were tested, buttons and ignition both, before I put my tools away.
The police called back with a case number while I was still in the lot. He already had two working keys by then.
The dealer route would have meant a tow, days of waiting, and a bill that was more than double what he paid me. The stolen key is dead now. It will not start that car, period.
