A guy in Port Hueneme, right near Port Hueneme Pier, had just picked up a 2013 Scion IQ off OfferUp. Clean title, decent shape, one key. The seller told him to get a spare on his own.
He figured a Scion key would run cheap since the IQ is basically a rebadged Toyota. The dealer corrected that thinking fast. I met him at his parking spot with everything ready. His IQ uses the 4D-67 transponder chip with a separate three-button remote in the key head, FCC ID MOZB41TG. I cloned the transponder data from his working key onto a fresh TOY43 blank using my programmer so the immobilizer accepted it without needing a full system reset. Cut the blade on the Condor, then synced the remote through OBD. Whole thing took maybe twenty minutes.
He watched the second key start the engine and just nodded. No drama.
He left with two working keys for a fraction of what the dealer wanted for one. That spare also means if he ever loses a key, his next call is a simple add-a-key job instead of all-keys-lost, which on these older Toyota-platform cars can mean pulling the 89661 ECU off the bench and resetting the immobilizer from scratch.
