2008 Subaru Tribeca Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Oxnard Shores, I got a call from a retired firefighter who lived in one of the manufactured home communities near the water. He needed a spare key for his 2008 Tribeca. Had one working key, no backup, and figured the dealer was the only option because of the "computer stuff" involved. His neighbor had used me before and passed my number along.
When I got there he mentioned the dealer quote. It was a number that made him put it off for months. That's pretty common with the Tribeca. Dealers treat it like specialty work because the vehicle sold in smaller numbers than a Forester or Outback, and the service advisors don't see them every week.
I set up on site, verified the VIN, confirmed the key count hadn't hit the limit, and cut the new remote head key to the vehicle. Then walked through the immobilizer registration sequence with my programmer. The whole thing took about 30 minutes, start to finish, parked in front of his place.
He tested it himself, doors and ignition, before I packed up. That part matters to me. I'm not gone until the owner has turned the key and locked the car with the fob in their own hand.
He saved a good chunk compared to the dealer quote, and he didn't have to arrange a tow or a ride home. That's the whole value of mobile service, done right at the vehicle.
