Got a call from a woman over near Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara. Her 2019 Toyota 86 had one key, and the plastic head was split right along the seam where the two halves meet. Classic stress crack. The blade still turned the ignition, but the housing was flexing every time she gripped it, and she was worried the transponder chip would fall out on the floorboard one day and she would not know until the immobilizer killed the start.

I met her at her parking spot with a replacement shell and my TOY43 Lishi tool for decoding. Pulled the blade, read the wafer depths to confirm the cut was still clean, then moved the TMS37126 transponder wedge into a fresh housing. Seated the chip, closed the shell, slid the blade back in.
Tested it in the ignition. Engine turned over on the first try, immobilizer light on the dash went out the way it should, no Security indicator lingering. She turned it off and started it twice more just to be sure.
The chip was fine. The blade was fine. She just needed a new shell, done on site, for a fraction of what the dealer wanted for a full key replacement.
