2007 BMW 5 Series Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
BMW's immobilizer is more involved than most brands. Your 2007 BMW 5 Series has a security module, either a CAS, FEM, or BDC depending on the year, that communicates with the transponder chip in your key every time you start the car. The module sends an encrypted challenge, the chip responds with a calculated answer, and if the math checks out, the engine fires. That security layer is why a blank key from the internet won't work even if the blade fits perfectly.
A customer at Trader Joe's near North Park thought only the dealer could handle that encryption. Her dealer quoted $200 for a spare on her 2007 BMW 5 Series and she assumed that was her only option because of the "computer stuff" involved. Her neighbor had used me before and passed along my number.
I brought my Smart Pro to her car and walked through the CAS module security sequence. Her 5 Series uses a CAS3 slot key, FCC ID , with 3 buttons. The encryption the dealer charges a premium for is a security handshake my tool performs identically.
Her spare was cut, programmed, and tested in about 35 minutes. Total was around $95. The technology inside the key is real, but the dealer markup on programming through that technology isn't justified when a mobile locksmith carries the same diagnostic tools.

“My ignition would not turn in La Jolla and I thought I needed a tow. EZ Car Keyz repaired the ignition on the spot and also made a spare key for safety. The technician worked carefully and confidently.”
“Niv showed up, did his thing, and just like that I had two new keys for a fraction of what the dealership quoted. I have zero reservations recommending him to anyone who needs car keys replaced.”
“We had one broken key for our Honda Civic and one working key for our Lexus. Tim came out and cut three remote car keys at a great price. All keys worked perfectly. Professional, courteous, and highly recommended.”
