It was a Saturday night near RB Town Center, the bowling alley lot, and a couple walked out to their 2016 Suburban and got nothing. No response from either fob. Doors stayed locked. The truck just sat there.
They assumed dead batteries in one fob. Could be. But both fobs at the same time made them think it was something bigger. One of them started looking up whether the dealer had weekend emergency service. The answer to that is always no. Then they searched and found me.
I was about fifteen minutes out. The Suburban is a vehicle I stock for. I had the right fob housing, the right battery cells, and the programming equipment loaded in the van before they ever called.
When I got there, I started with the batteries. Both CR2032 cells were reading low on the tester, not dead-dead, but weak enough to cause exactly this: the fob transmitting just enough signal to confuse the system rather than wake it up cleanly. Swapped both cells, reseated the contacts, and ran a resync through the diagnostic port.
First press, the truck responded. Doors locked, unlocked, the whole system alive again. No tow, no waiting until Monday, no leaving a full-size Suburban in a parking lot overnight.
They drove home that night. The dealer conversation never happened.
